Angela Lansbury, who grunted like a teapot in Beauty and the Beast
And solved mysteries as Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote,
she died on October 11 at the age of 96, just days before her 97th birthday, her family confirmed.
Lansbury was an actor of enormous range.
Lansbury was born in London in 1925 to actress mother Moyna MacGill and politician father Edgar Lansbury.
Her father died when she was 9; and six years later her mother picked up and moved her family to North America.
In 1964, she starred in Stephen Sondheim's ill-fated Who Can Whistle, which had only nine performances.
